Video created for the Breaking Ice project in collaboration with Iddo Aharony, Qin Xu, Jessica Segall, and Sophie Webber. The project was funded by the UChicago Arts|Science Initiative.


A suspension droplet made of water with ceramic beads (ZrO2, diameter 250 micron) impacting on a glass plate at 1.4 m/s. Surface tension is not strong enough to keep the particles inside at this impact speed and the droplet breaks apart.
